Thomas Haizel
Haizel obtained his bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana and his PhD from Friedrich Miesher Institute and the University of Basel in Switzerland. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Fribourg in Switzerland and another at Sainsbury Laboratory in Norwich Research Park.
After completing an MBA at Henley Management College, in 2004 Haizel set up his own firm – Anglia DNA Services which is an independent accredited laboratory specialising in drugs of abuse, alcohol and DNA testing. Over the last 15 years the company has developed a reputation for its innovation and excellence in scientific services. In 2014 Haizel successfully acquired IDNA Genetics which specialises in plant and human genotyping services. In 2011, Haizel launched AssureDNA – the UK’s first off the shelf paternity testing kit, now available in Boots. Haizel has also set up another company – Nkaarco Diagnostics Ltd to provide accredited genetic testing services for companies selling DNA fitness and nutrition tests and weight management tests. It recently began selling DTC tests directly to the general public. The DTC tests include weight and diet, healthy ageing, vitamins and antioxidants and oestrogen tests. |
