Ijeoma Uchegbu

Uchegbu is Chair of Pharmaceutical Nanosciences at University College London where she designs and synthesises polymers that self assemble into nanoparticles with predictable properties. She is also Pro-Vice Provost for Africa and The Middle East, and the Provosts’ Envoy for Race Equality at UCL. In addition, Uchegbu is Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Nanomerics, a UCL spin-out company which she co-founded. She completed her PhD at University of London and her bachelor’s at University of Benin in Nigeria. Uchegbu was named Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Pharmaceutical Scientist of the Year 2012 and is the 2016 recipient of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences Innovative Science Award. In 2013, she was elected Eminent Fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She holds 11 patents and has authored over 120 publications in her field.
