Aigbirhio is Professor of Molecular Imaging Chemistry in the Department of Clinical Neuroscience and the Department of Chemistry at Cambridge University. His research focuses on the development and application of imaging probes that can tag biological markers and are themselves sensitive to any biochemical changes associated with disease mechanisms. He also develops novel radiosynthetic methods that assist in efficient and rapid preparation of radiopharmaceuticals as well as the facilitating discovery of new chemical entities that can be imaged. Such work is very vital when assessing biological process in eg. brain tumours through non-invasive techniques. Aigbirhio has numerous publications on his research and collaborates with many other researchers across Cambridge and the UK.
