Dr. Veronica Okello

Dr. Veronica Okello is an Analytical/Environmental Chemist currently working at Machakos University, Kenya as a Lecturer, Researcher, Mentor and Quality Assurance Director.  She graduated from State University of New York at Binghamton in 2013 with a PhD. in Chemistry. Her Dissertation title was “Naturally derived flavonoids and nanomembranes for environmental remediation and sensing’. Currently, her research focuses on Development of analytical methods and monitoring materials for environmental xenobiotics. Specifically, nanoscale and nano-enabled materials/polymers that offer new possibilities for the development of novel remediation and environmental sensing/monitoring technologies for water, soil and air pollutants (Heavy metals, Anions and Organic compounds). In addition to the general application of Green Chemistry technologies in solving day-to-day environmental problems. Dr. Okello is a member of The Royal Society of Chemists (AMRSC), Kenya Chemical Society (KSC), Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World and Women in Nature Network (WiNN). During her free time, Dr. Okello enjoys participating in community outreach programs, student mentorship and watching documentaries.
