David Izuogu
Izuogu is currently pursuing a PhD in Theory and Computational Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. His work looks at using multireference methods to investigate molecular designs with advantages for the fabrication of single-molecule magnets. His research project opens a new front in advancing quantum information processing, fabrication of spin devices like spintronics, magnetic refrigerating, and medical imaging among other applications.
Izuogu is the founder of Africa of Our Dream Initiative (AODI), an organization that aims to empower African youths and help them access world class education at places like Cambridge. He also leads a series of research collaborations through the Partner Africa Project (PAP), a programme he launched in 2018 that allows Cambridge scholars and researchers to travel to African Institutions to deliver lectures, workshops, and seminars while building capacity within Africa. He believes in capacity building within Africa rather than free aid through charity. Izuogu says “Africa needs to build capacity from within to solve its own problems. Any attempt to do this by an external body will not yield a desired result. |
