Charmaine Henry
Henry is Associate Professor of Biology at Baker University in Kansas, where she studies tissue regeneration using the California black worm. She grew up in Antigua and obtained her bachelor’s at University of the Virgin Islands and her PhD at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. One of her major research findings in Physiology is that the glycocalyx, which is the network of molecules that line the inner surface of blood vessels, offers protection from injury. She has received multiple awards and honours including the 2006 Distinguished Faculty Award at Baker University and is listed among the 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century.
