Berhane Asfaw
Asfaw has worked for decades as a researcher at the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture, Centre for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. He established the first research laboratory at the National Museum of Ethiopia and has led archaeological expeditions that have yielded novel discoveries on human evolution. He discovered remains of Australopithecus garh, Australopithecus anamensis, Homo erectus and Homo sapiens idaltu leading to Ethiopia being labelled as the ‘cradle of humankind’. Asfaw is a founding member of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences.
